Online Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation
6-week Course with Helen Fong, CYT, YTT 500 
10:00am-11:45am Atlantic Time for six Saturdays
October 29, 2022 to December 3, 2022 

This course will be on Zoom facilitated by Helen Fong, Certified Yoga Teacher, YTT 500hr.  During the six-week introductory course, the basic instructions in insight meditation are given sequentially, each week building on the previous one. The first week focuses on the basics of mediation and on mindfulness of breathing. The second week discusses mindfulness of the body and expands the area of attention to include all our physical experiences. The third week introduces mindfulness of emotions, the four week mindfulness of thinking, the fifth week mindfulness of mind, and sixth week focuses on the role of mindfulness in daily life and in deepening one's spiritual life.

This course will be recorded for presentation and instructional purposes (spotlighting Helen only) for those who want to review the materials again or missed the session, as each week builds on the previous one. No recordings will be done during any group and breakout room discussions.

In today’s world, people want to be healthy, they want to be happy, but instead, they are getting stressed out, depressed, getting less sleep, more negative thoughts and feeling isolated. Does this sound like you? Are you someone who wants to move on and bring more laughter and joy into your life? You are in the right place.

Laughter Yoga is a unique concept where anyone can laugh for no reason, without relying on humour, jokes or comedy. The concept of Laughter Yoga is based on a scientific fact that the body cannot differentiate between fake and real laughter if done with willingness. One gets the same health benefits, whether laughter is real or simulated. You'll leave feeling relaxed and happy.

Restorative Yoga uses props to fully support the body so that each posture may be passively received rather than actively sought. Unlike other forms of exercise or other styles of yoga, restorative poses require little to no effort. The practice is in the ‘non-effort’ supporting the on-off switch from ‘fight or flight’ response of our full lives into ‘relaxation response’. A guided Yoga Nidra will complete this relaxation practice.

You will need a chair, a yoga mat, 2 standard pillows, 2 blankets and bottle of water. If you have any questions or concerns, please Contact Helen.

The Instructor:
Helen Fong has been teaching yoga for 16 years since 2006 and is a TAYS YTT Alumnus. Helen has received advanced training with Laughter Yoga International's founder Dr. Madan Kataria and has been running her own laughter yoga club at the Keshen Goodman Library in Halifax since February 2012. Taking yoga off the mat is her true passion and path.

2-Day Certified Laughter Yoga Leader Training with Helen

Saturday November 26, 2022 2pm-9pm + 1hr Break
Sunday November 27, 2022 12pm-9pm + 1hr Break

Location: TAYS, 6252 Quinpool Road, Suite 202, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Cost: $398+taxes CAD. Pre-registration required.

This is a basic training on how to lead a laughter session for social clubs, corporate organizations, seniors, school children and people with special needs. You will acquire the basic facilitation skills of how to lead a group of people through laughter sessions and meditation. You will also learn the history, concept, philosophy and different steps of Laughter Yoga and meditation. These trainings are done by Certified Laughter Yoga Teachers, at the end of which the participants are certified as Laughter Yoga Leaders.
This is in-person training only!
Please bring your own yoga mat, a blanket, a pillow and water. 
Helen Fong is a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher with many years of laughter yoga leading experience since 2009. Helen was certified by Michi Morioka, Laughter Yoga University Master Trainer in Halifax on 2013 CLYL and 2019 CLYT.
Helen is a dedicated full-time Certified Yoga Teacher with advanced training in meditation and asana since 2006. She is a graduate of Dalhousie University and has worked in clinical research since 2000. Living yoga on and off the mat is her passion and profession.
